- Description
- "Recently I reported an interview with Sir John Johnson, Sixth Baronet of New York, whose famed ancestor Sir William Johnson led the forces which routed the French from Fort Niagara and ended the French regime in this part of Canada. Sir John told me that Sir William had 101 children - three legitimate and 98 illegitimate by various Indian mothers. He also said that Pauline Johnson, the great Canadian-Indian poetess, was one of Sir William's descendants. Now a number of readers have written me to dispute these statements."
