CENTENNIAL COSTUME - Mrs. Howard Disher, past president of the Brant Historical Society, models a dress which belonged to Pauline Johnson's mother. Fashioned of black taffeta embroidered with roses, the dress features a three-tiered skirt and a cummerbund with a large flat bow in back. With it Mrs. Disher wears a rose-colored georgette shawl with silver fringe, a black beaded dolman and a black Gainsborough hat. She is studying an oil painting, the last work of the late George Waite, which depicts women's fashions of 1867. The painting is one of many of Mr. Waite's which may be seen at the Brant Museum.
