If it's true an army marches on its stomach, then the people of the Six Nations Indian Reserve should be able to rally one of the bets marching armies in the world following the hockey banquet staged Saturday.
The banquet which featured a star-studded guest list, was held at the Ohsweken fair grounds to honor the three Indian teams who copped hockey championships this past season.
The Sour Springs peewees took a Young Canada title at the big Goderich tournament, the Ohsweken schoolboys took the Brantford Schoolboy senior title and the Ohsweken intermediates walked away with the championship of the Brant Intermediate League.
Parents and friends of the players donated the food and the New Credit Women's Institute served up a whopping turkey dinner for close to 400 people.
It took two sittings and the fairgrounds dining hall was filled each time.
