June 14 Date To Officially Open Library

The official opening of Six Nations Public Library has been set for June 14, with the originator of the idea of a library on the reserve scheduled to cut the ribbon.

Miss Bernice Winslow of Boston, Ont. who originated the idea of a reserve library and collected $500 for the project, will cut the ribbon during the opening ceremonies June 14.

Several government officials will also attend.

The idea of a reserve library began several yaers ago. Tht Ohsweken Women's Institute became involved in the project and began campaigning for funds in 1966. In 1967, several women began speaking engagements, also to raise funds.

The library is now situated at the old doctor's residence near Lady Willingdon Nursing Home at Ohsweken.
