- Description
- "In one of my earlier columns, I told about Tom Longboat, the Six Nations runner who was judged to be Canada's best in the first half of the 20th century. Strange as it may seem, the man selected as the greatest athlete in the U.S. in the first half of this century was also an Indian. His name was Jim Thorpe, and he was also picked as the best football player between 1900 and 1950. His heroics, both in track and field and on the football field are almost unbelievable."
