Stay out of our village warns chief

MONTREAL - Mohawks are the victims of harassment by Quebec provincial police and RCMP who continue to patrol the Kahnawake reserve, Chief Joe Norton said Wednesday.

Norton urged residents to resist police if they are being harassed and he warned police to stay clear of the centre of the Mohawk village on the reserve.

"We are going to do whatever we can to protect our territory from the SQ (Quebec's provincial police) and the RCMP," Norton said at a news conference. He refused to elaborate
