5 Leather Classes for Adults The leather classes for adults will begin on Thursday Feb. 20 7 1969 at Old Central lchool from 7:30 to 9:30 P~m. "A" group is the leather jacket class with Mrs. Oliver Smith, instructress. This class is already filled and only if those who do not register on the first night or drop out will others be taken .. _f you find that you are unable to take the class as previously planned , give advanced notice so that a replacement may have the opportunity. There is a second or third choice in gloves or moccasins. Gordon Martin is the in- strcutor. This class is not fil l ed and will accommodate 8 to 10 people. Those taking the leather clas ses will be required to buy their 01,m leather, which is available, wholesale at the cl ass. The le~ther tools are supplied. Classes will consist of five sessions. To register in your choice of leather class call Mrs. Cameron Isaac at 445-2554. Art Class for Adults An art class for adults will begin on Sunday afternoon Feb. 23rd from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. at Old Central School. The instructor is Mr. George Rachus. Mr. Rachus has returned from studying in Europe in 1967 and 19680 He gave a series of lectures at Toronto University last fall. The art cla ss is fortunate to have this opportunity to work with a teacher of this calibre. Anyone interested in ar t would certainly benefit by his instruction. There will be only 8 to 10 sessions of this art class as Mr. Rachus is returning to Europe in the spring. Opportunity Knocks There. is a firs·~-hand opportunity to advance the economic status of enterprising folk. Indian hand-made articles and hand paintings are much in demand by visitors and tourists to the Six Nations India.~ Pageant. And the extension of the pageant to three weekends means greater opportunity for sales. We hope that when the pageant folclers are :Jrinted that a notation will be made for Indian Craft Sales. Some visitor s come unprepared to buy and leave disappointed. Another needed home-project for pageant visj_tors is overnight accommodation. Now with the Tekawennake newspaper going t o centres in Canada and the United States, many people will return to the pageant and residents with available accommodation could advertise in our newspaper~ You know what motels charge in the tourist season!. U.C. W. Meeting The February meeting of the Grand River U. C. W. was held at the home of Miss Dorothy Martin who presided. The meeting opened with devotional offered by Mrs. Kenneth Welch. The program for the year was arranged. The group accepted the invitation of the Preston St. Paul's U.C. vi . to meet with them at their meeting on March 3rd at Preston. Miss Angie Todd, local teacher, will accompany the group and take part in the "Panel of Canadian Women." Other members of the panel will present Jewisn, French-Canadian 1 Catholic, Negro, Japanese and European-Canadian points of view on the touchy subject of 11 Di scrimina tion". The U.C. W. also decided to hold a smorgasbord supper at Easter. At the conclusion of activities, Miss Martin served a dai nty lunch. Welcome Party Mr. & Mrs. Bart Peters , formerly of Buffalo,N.Y. were guests of honour at a"Welcome Home Party" at their new home, J)elaware, on Saturday evening. The jolly party was arranged by their family and friends. Family members attending from Buffalo were Mr. and Mrs. Michael Karpie and sons, Miss Dorothy Peters and Mrs. Hester Weeksi all of whom remained over the weekend. Mrs. Ronald Peters and sons of Buffalo sent a beautiful arrangement of cut-flowers. Rev. and nrs. Kenneth Welch attended and Mr. Welch pro- nounced a benediction for their new home. A buffet lunch was served by the family. It was an enjoyable evening for alL Fire Fire of unkown origin destroyed the home Friday night. Firemen were called out at 10 on arrival.
