TEKAWENNAKE New Credit - Six Nations Reportoi July 27 - August 2 Thirty-Fifth Issue Six Nat ions' News Diphtheria Harning Dro J, H, Nicho l as, Jfodical Supt. at Lady Willingdon Hospital, has issued a statement urging Six Nat ions' parents to have their children immunized against the dread childhood disease of diphtheria. There is a current flare-up of the disease throughout Canada with two cases as near as Woodstock and the recent death of a child from diphtheria in London, Ontario. Parents should not be complacent about this highly-contagious disease. Better to be safe than sorry. Immunization shots may be obtained at Lady 1,Jillingdon Hospital. 1fo recall a death from diphtheria on the reserve about 1912 when Lynette Jewell Smith, only sister of Hr. Hurray Smith, died from this dread disease. How often have we heard :th§ anguished cry - " if only there was immunization then." Parents be warned. School School terms and holidays dates have boon announced by the Ontario Department of Education. The fall term begins Sept. 3 and ends December 20, 1968. Solicitor General George Mci braith made the announcement today. I,iost of tho service calls in the past have originated from the Simcoe district and the decision to re-locate the throe-man detachment was made by officials on the R. C. IL P, to provide more efficient coverage for that area. They ' re needed more there than here.
