He was honoured at the University of Buffalo at a banquet. With the war over, Arnold was now able to direct his attention to peaceful pursuits. He was assigned to Union CarlJide Chemical Co. of Niagara Falls, N. Y. as Director of Research. He was named assistant manager in 1955 and manager in 1959. He later became Production Manager of the New Chemicals Factory group of Union Carbides with offices in New York City. In this position Dr. Anderson was responsible for the market development of Union Carbide water soluble polymers. These polymers are widely used as thickeners, film form- ers, binders, dispersants and s izes. They are important ingredients in latex-based paints, cosmetics, adhesives, paper products and textile chemicals. They are widely used in building and related industries as water-retaining agents for concrete, plaster, wall- board etc. While in Niagara Falls, IT.Y. Arnold was active in the American Chemical Society, American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Industrial Management Club, Niagara Club, Instrument Society of America, Messiah Lutheran Church of Lewiston (where he was Super- intendent of Sunday School) Boy Scouts of America Council and Community Chest. Dr. Anderson's compatriot s on the Six Nations Reserve take great pride in his achievements and Caledonia High School is proud to have had a share in shaping his career. Dr. Arno ld C. Anderson is now World Co-ordinator of Union Carbides, and resides in suburban New York with his wife and two sons, when he isn't flying to other parts of the world. Barracks be deferred for one month and that the resolution numbered as 25 February 6th 1969 be rescinded. Carried. It was moved and seconded that since Mr. Torry Davis, caretaker of the Fair Grounds, cannot operate the seed cleaning plant because of asthma that his salary of $2,700 per annum be reduced to $2,400 per annum as of March 6, 1969 as agreed between Mr. Davis and this council after this council's discussion with him·on this matter at this meeting, and that the operation of the seed cleaning plant be delegated to the Fair Grounds Committee. That this Council comply t i the request of the Fair Grounds Committee to replace the wooden steps at the Cornrmmi y Hall with concrete steps and to replace one do-or with funds from the Revenue Band Budget under the item Improvement to Band Property. That this Council accept the verbal report of the Housing Authority Chairman, James Clifford Lickers, of the houses inspected that were bui l t with funds from the Capital Grant Housing Program.
