Anna Hill of R.R.l Ohsweken, was admitted to the Brantford General Hospital with back injuries Friday afternoon when her car was involved in a collision. with two others at the junction of. Sour Springs· and Cockshutt Roads. Hisses Muriel Lickers _& Charlene Thomas, and Daniel Jamieson attended a meeting at Five Oaks U. C. Training Centre, Paris, to complete plans for the Indian Conference to be held_ there on Hay 3, 4 & 5. The marriage of rirs. Phyllis Jamieson and Nr. Keith Lickers was solemnized at Ohsweken on Saturday evening. Rev. Fred Graham performed the ceremony; Hrs .Ruth Seneca attended the bride, and i-tr. Peter Hill supported the groom. Following the ceremony, a recept- ion was held at the Community Hall. Lr. & l.i:rs. Lickers will reside in Ohsweken. The marriage of Hiss Deanna· Diabo of Caughnawa.ga, n.ue. and 1-ir. Native ritual dances followed to the cadence of Indian drums. lir. &:. Ers. Bomberry will reside in Detroit. Six Nations Svents The Six Nations Peewees Hockey Team has now arrived at the finals. It is now the best 3 out of 5 for the champs of Ontario. The first game is scheduled for Friday evening, :fviarch 29th at 8 P.h. at the Waterford Arena. Its Six Nations vs Schomberg. The second game will be played at Schomberg on Saturday. at 2 P. h . The Peewees would be happy to see the arena packed with home fans. Let ' s go! Anyone with transportat- ion or wishing any information should call Roland Nartin, 445-2636. A meeting of the Committee for Social Action f or the Indians of America is scheduled for Sunday Harch 31st at 8 P .h . at the Committ ee Room of the Brant l ... useum. Speakers will be Dean Melling of HdYiaster University; Dr. Ross, Uestern University; Brue~ Hill, Brant Historian; students of the B.C.I., under Bob Clark, will also be there. It is hoped that there will be a goodly attendance of interested folk from Six Nations and New Credit. Indian agents, assistant agents and Indian band administrators throughout Canada met in conference in London, Ont. At the conclusion of the course, 20 of them came to tour the Six Nations Reserve and were received by Chief Isaac and councillors and 1-ir . Iv:icCaw. They visited the Pottery, St. Paul's Church, liin's Craft Shop, Council House, Iviohawk Institute, Nohawk Chapel and Chiefswood. They enjoyed a bountiful lunch at Phil ' s Grill. An instructive millinery course was held on honday at St. Peter ' s Parish Hall, Ohsweken, under the supervision of Hiss ~thelwyn Carlyle. Those who wisely took the course have their Easter bonnets all ready. Welfare Considering that the New Credit band ' s welfare costs ar.e nil, we decided to call on our local welfare officer, l1r. Arthur i\.nderson, to compare notes. The Six Nations welfare costs for last year were :Jl8,000. of this amount, SO% is sub- sidized by the Province, 10% by the Federal De_:ct. of Indian Affairs and the balance of 10% from band funds which amounted to ~~ 2,000. and hr. 'Anderson stated that 11witpout the Provincial Subsidy we couldn ' t carry on.
