- Area woman receives Anglican Church award
An area woman is among six lay members of the Anglican Church of Canada to receive the church's award of merit.
She is Nina Burnham, a member of St. Peter's Church at Ohsweken who also serves on the Mohawk chapel board.
She has been involved with numerous community boards, including Six Nations council and Woodland Cultural Centre board.
In the Anglican church, she has been a member of the council for native ministries and the primate's word relief and development fund, and was a delegate to the World Council of Churches Assembly in Vancouver.
She currently is a member of the long-range planning committee.
The Anglican church grants merit awards annually to recognize outstanding lay service at the local and national levels of the church.
