"John Maracle and Titus Porter..."

John Maracle and Titus Porter are Mohawks who are presently working together as a team. They are both singers who have devoted much of their time singing Mohawk Hymns to residents in local nursing homes, churches, and at special festivities throughout their community.

John Maracle has been singing since childhood. He has lived all over Southern Ontario and in Upper New York State. As a soloist he has sung in many choirs.

Titus Porter has lived most of his life in the Ohsweken area. A farmer for many years he still remains involved in farming.

Both John and Titus have recently taped some of their music and are working on completing an English/Mohawk version of Mohawk Hymns.

As elders of their community they are preserving the cultural traditions of their native nation.
