- Description
- "The Canadian womens water polo team won a gold medal at the Pan-Am games in Winnipeg on Friday by defeating the U. S. team 8-6. Leading the way for the Canadians was Waneek Horn-Miller of Kahnawake Quebec with three goals in the final game. The gold medal won by Horn-Miller for Canada is a far cry from the scar that it lays upon. Just above Horn-Miller's heart is a thick scar left by a Canadian soldier's bayonet, a wound she suffered in a scuffle nearly a decade ago during the summer-long standoff between Mohawks and Canadian authorities at Oka."
