New Credit News Council Meets The Mississaugas of the New Credit Council met on May 13, 1968. Present were: Chief Fred King; Councillors, Sylvester LaForme, Ward LaForme, William LaForme and Clayton Tobicoe. Present from the Indian Affairs Branch were: J.L. Mccaw, W. H. Horne and W. Sears. Moved, seconded and carried that permission be given to Mr. W. Richard Cowan, chief geologist, to carry out a geological survey of the reserve. Other business accomplished, council adjourned until June 17, 1966 at 8 P.M. Other New Credit girls planning to go to the United Nations held their last penny bingo in the Rumpus Hall on May 16... On May 19 a newly formed choir under the capable leadership of Mr. Henry LaForme sang a choir anthem for the congregation at church. STATISTICS (by P.S. - S.S. #2) The population of this country is 20 million, but there are 8 million over sixty-two years of age, leaving 12 million to do the work. People under twenty-one total 7 million, which leaves 5 million to do the work. Then there are 2 million who are employed by the government and that leaves 3 million to do the work. One million are in the armed forces, leaving 2 million to do the work. Deduct 1,900,000 housewives, who actually do nothing but housework, and that leaves 100,000 to do the work. There are 60,000 hospitals, institutions, and the like with the sick and invalided, and that leaves 40,000 people.
