Charles Boynton. I WAS THERE Of course I was there when the gunshot roared. I bled too as his life's blood poured. For Martin died, as did I, his Lord I was there. I too preached peace in a troubled land, But no one staid the soldier's hand. FORGIVENESS, was and is my stand, I'm always there. My load was heavy, I'd much to bear. I walked where others would never dare. I died first, just because I care, I was there. All those who live for love, my dear, May well Meet death by sword or spear. But Perfect Love casteth out all fear. Lo; I am there. The answer you seek as to why Bad men should live while good ones die? To lose your life is to find it on high. I am there. I know he lived as all men should, Upholding truth and brotherhood. God dwelt in him. That's why he was good. And you ask, was I there? Indeed the Nobel prize he earned. Yet such honors he humbly spurned. His prize? His view from the mount discerned. I am there. You know where I was when the gunshot roared. You know where I was when his life's blood poured. His soul now rests with me, his Lord. We are there.
