Miller: Mary Trillis

HER WORSHIP MARY TRILLIS ("Gawehedahse") - It is with heavy hearts that those who loved and were loved by Trillis wish to announce her passing on Sunday, August 19, 2012 at the Stedman Community Hospice after a long battle with lung cancer at the age of 56. We had to say goodbye so much sooner than anyone ever expected but she left us with the same grace and dignity that she carried with her every day that she walked on this earth.

She leaves behind her husband, Winton Miller; her children and grandchildren, Hilary and Scott Visheau (Kaleb, Cohen and Isaak), Stephanie Burnham (Damon) and Joshua Burnham (Tehya); her very special niece, Candice Clarke (Corey Young); her parents, Laverne and Shirley Dawn Clarke, her siblings, Cathy and Eugene Boron, Vicky Clarke, and Albert and Julia Clarke, her close friends, Sue Martin, Ava Hill and Jean Armstrong, her step-children Cheryl (Tanner, Tyler and Tyra); Wonk (Ashley); Erin (Dakota, Dallas); she was predeceased by her step-son Jeff (Rusty, Shailin, Tessa, Taryn); survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, her Red Hat ladies and an unbelievable amount of friends. She is predeceased by her much loved sister, Tracy Clarke. There were so many special people in her life that we cannot begin to name them all. Please know that she loved you and appreciated all that you did for her.

Trillis spent her years working in the justice field as a legal secretary and law clerk. She volunteered on a numerous amount of committees, most notably as the chairperson with Six Nations Police Commission. All of her hard work and dedication to justice was finally rewarded in 2006 when she was appointed to the bench as a Justice of the Peace serving Brantford, Simcoe and Cayuga areas. We were all so proud of everything that she accomplished in her short life - both personally and professionally. She was a strong, smart, beautiful woman with a large, loving heart. She was a role model to many. We will spend our days being glad for the time we had with her and the love she bestowed upon us. Nia:wen, Mom. We love you.

Trillis will be resting at her Sister's house, 65 River Road (off of Cockshutt Road) Brantford, Ontario. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday August 21st at 9:00 a.m. with burial at Grand River United Church cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her sister, Tracy. Reception to follow at 65 River Road.
