Another Powless accused of assault by McHale
By Erin Tully, CAYUGA

Clyde "Bullet" Powless is facing four charges stemming from a private prosecution filed by Gary McHale. All charges are related to a protest from December 1, 2007.

The protest was organized by Caledonia resident Doug Fleming and was aimed at a smoke shop on Plank Road.

Powless is facing alleged charges of assaulting a Peace Officer, Obstructing a Peace Officer, being member of a riot and assault causing bodily harm.

On December 14, 2007 OPP Superintendent Cain signed an affidavit telling the court that Powless was already charged with assaulting a police officer. The charge, however, was never officially filed; it was dismissed at the OPP level.

McHale and members of CANACE pursue many court charges against residents of Six Nations. Powless became one of those people when Superior Court Justice Marshall ruled that McHale's charges should continue despite another judge's ruling the charges be dismissed.

The order went through on January 12, 2009 and since then McHale has continued to file an array of charges against a number of OPP officers, Six Nations residents and others.
