- Hubbert: Laura Mae (nee: Davis)
Mohawk/Delaware, Turtle Clan, Six Nations of the Grand River. Laura passed away on April 13, 2016. In her fight with cancer Laura lived up to her spirit name of Yonkeyrlya'sa garldots (She who has courage in her heart}. Laura was the beloved wife of David Sharpe of Brantford. Predeceased by her first husband, Brony Hubbert and sister Jean. Proud mother of Dwayne Hubbert, grandmother of Kelli and Rob, and great grandmother of Jaxson, Brady and Kinley. Sister of Sharon (Donnie), Marilyn (Larry), Jean (Ellis), Nancy (Gerry), Elda (Dave), Judy (Paul), and Ellie (Phil). Sister-in-law of Douglas Sharpe and aunt of Jonina, Ben, John and Amanda. She was special friend to Dallas Miller. She will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews and cousins. Laura celebrated First Nations culture, attended a sweat lodge, and loved helping others. She was a graduate of both McMaster and Wilfrid Laurier Universities and had her own counselling business. Family and friends will be received at the DENNIS TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford, on Friday, April 29, 2016 from 7-9 p.m. A celebration of Laura's life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. If desired, Laura had requested donations be made to either the Brantford Food Bank or the Six Nations Food Bank.
