HILL: DONALD BRUCE (DONNIE MILES) SAGOHENDETAH
October 28, 1936 - November 23, 2012 of the Mohawk Nation and Bear Clan. Beloved husband of Louise (Hill). Loving father of Kristine and Ed, Miles and Pam, Lori and Richard, and Scott and Tammy. Dear grandfather of Michelle and Jim, Katie, Markie, Kali, Keelan, Eric and Ciystal, Erin, Abby, Alex, David, Winter, Chaz, Richard Jr., Austin, Shaely, and Jordan. Dear great grandfather of Peyton, Heidi, and Aaliyah. Brother of Fem and Peter Burning, Myrna, and Betty. Brother-in-law of Alice and Lehman Gibson, Delos Hill, Marcie and Vernon Vyse, and Scott and Shirley Hill. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents, Herbert and Violet Hill and granddaughter Keely Louise Hill. Don retired from the former Haldimand Board of Education after 37 years as Principal and Vice - Principal at the Caledonia and Hagersville High Schools. He was the first Aboriginal High School Principal in the province of Ontario and received the National Aboriginal Award for Education. Resting at his residence 260 Mohawk Road, Six Nations after 3 p.m. Sunday until 10 a.m. Tuesday then to the Onondaga Longhouse for Funeral Service and burial at 11 am. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers Donnie has wished for donations be made to the Keely Louise Hill Playroom at the Ronald McDonald House, Hamilton in his memory of his granddaughter.
