Death on the Track Smiths Falls man killed At Finch by moving train George Alfred Whiten of Smiths Falls was instantly killed on Monday evening when a N.Y.C. freight train backed down upon him while crossing the tracks at Finch. He was a flag man in the employ of the C.P.R. and 60 years of age. The late Mr Whiten had been in the service of the C.P.R. for twenty five years. He resided in Kemptville for some time, and twenty years ago came to Smiths Falls where he was employed in the round house. While engaged here he met with an accident which resulted in the loss of an arm. He was transferred back to Finch, where he had been ever since. The daughters are Mrs James O’Neil, Mrs Daniel McKercher and Mrs W. F Whiten, of Smiths Falls, and Mrs Earl Morris of Ottawa and William J Whiten and WalterA Whiten of Smiths Falls are the sons the late Mr Whiten. W.H. Whiten and Mrs James Anderson of Ottawa are brother and sister of the late Mr Whiten. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock from the family home in Atironto to the public cemetery Rev N.A.MacEachern conducting the service
