Anderson M.D., Mayor, 1925 - 1924 As Mayor of Smiths Falls, and in complying with your re- quest for an article to be inserted in the Record-News publica- tion entitled ‘““Who’s Who” in Smiths Falls, I wish to say that no greater pleasure could be afforded me than to tell the people the World over that we have the best, most progressive and most prosperous town of its size in the Dominion of Canada. We are sound financially and our credit is Al. Our assess- ment was increased over Seven Hundred Thousand Dollars this year and consequently our rate will be much reduced. Eivery spending Department of our Town affairs is in a flourishing condition. Our Hydro-Electric system has a surplus of over Thirteen Thousand Dollars for 1923. The Waterworks System ended this year with a surplus, after having purchased a water power and mill property at a cost of Twenty Thousand Dollars. We are installing a filtration plant at a cost of One Hun- dred and Thirty Hight Thousand Dollars which will be paid for out of water rates with a small increase over the present rates Mayor J. A.
