same security. I took in other children to baby-sit and also got a little part-time job in a craft store in order to make ends meet. When our youngest child, Erika, was in kindergar ten, there was a teacher's strike and with no income coming in for a few weeks we began to really feel the pinch. I went back to work at Philips Electronics as a secretary to the Communications Manager. After a few years of being unable to co-ordinate my holidays with Rick and the children, I decided to see if I could get back into teaching. I became a supply teacher for the Scarborough Board of Edu cation which later amalgamated with other Greater Toronto Area boards to form the Toronto District School Board. I currently still teach as a Long-Term Occasional Teacher. We lived in Scarborough for 30 years until we found our dream home in a little town called Seagrave, just north of Port Perry. Our children have all followed in their parents' footsteps and, after getting their degrees in various universities around Ontario and the United States, have become teachers. They all work for the Durham Board of Education: Chris at the secondary level and both girls at the elementary level. They married won derful partners and our family continues to expand. Elisabeth married Toby Lam in July of 2004. Toby is currently going to Teacher's College as well. Chris married Debbie Ford in August of 2004 and Erika married Kyle Ruta in July of 2007. Things are very different from living in Stirling so many years ago. Mom and Dad have long since passed away not to mention many relatives and friends. Progress has changed most of the world but Stirling hasn't really changed that significantly in my opinion. All things being equal, Stirling was a pretty good place to grow up in. Paul Zandbergen Paul married Debra Lynn Murfin (b February 10, 1958) on July 4, 1981. The marriage ended in di vorce on November 19, 1998. In 2001 Paul was fortunate to find love again when he met Nancy Aldora Bums (b February 12, 1961). Paul and Nancy have been together since July 8,2001. Nancy married 2. Robert Glen Bums, July 29, 1988. No chil dren. They divorced June 16, 2006. Rob ert died March 20, 2007. Christine Anne Sweeney was bom on October 19,1980. Christine has two children. James Ev erett Francis Swee- Paul s sons Benjamin (I) and Joel Zandbergen December 30, 2007. John Zandbergen I married Natalie Foley in 1978.
