Description
1842 Assessment Roll of taxes for Rawdon Township. Names the owner/occupant of the land and gives details about the lot and concession number, the number of acres cultivated and uncultivated, the number of males and females over the age of 16 and under the age of 16, details about the house on the property (number of storeys, number of fireplaces, whether it is framed, brick or stone). The assessment roll also contains information on saw mills, merchant shops, and store houses that may be on the property. There is information on the number of horses, oxen, cows and wagons. Each land owner also paid one-eighth of a penny for the support of a lunatic asylum.

The assessment rolls were transcribed to be used as a finding aid for the originals.
