ADMINISTRATIVE HISTORY

The Residence House Council originally constituted as a governing body was re-constituted in 1991 as a service oriented body. It consists of an executive and representative body mandated to represent and uphold the best interests of the student body living in residence with regard to academic, athletic and spiritual values. The membership of the House Council includes a President, Treasurer, Secretary, Pub Managers (2), Sports Reps (2), Floor Reps, Liaison Officer, Social Convenor, Yearbook Editor and prefects. Prefects are honorary members without voting privileges. Ex-officio members are the President of St. Jerome's University, the Chaplain and the Director of Residences. Any student living in residence for a full academic year as well as co-op students are eligible for election to the House Council. The Council usually meets bi-weekly but this varies from term to term.

SCOPE AND CONTENTS

This sub-series is comprised of the agendas and minutes of House Council meetings together with some financial records. There is also a file containing a few House Council minutes for Notre Dame College (1991; 1995-1996). The University of St. Jerome's College bought the Notre Dame College residence (for women) from the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1996. The House Council is now integrated.

The records are arranged chronologically.
