- SCOPE AND CONTENTS
This series is comprised of records relating to the planning and structure of the Religious Studies department and includes memoranda and other correspondence regarding the formalization of the self-understanding of Religious Studies and the future growth of the program, historical background and chronology of the program, correspondence and reports regarding the relations between St. Jerome's College and the other church colleges, between St. Jerome's and the University of Waterloo Arts Faculty, and between the church colleges and the Arts Faculty, correspondence and memoranda regarding constituency spheres of influence and teaching responsibility, administrative responsibilities and structures, draft proposals for the formation of a Department of Religious Studies with responses, recommendations and revisions to the drafts, reports by the constituencies on their views of the Religious Studies program, its purpose, structure and future, reports of constituents'contributions to the program, a record of problems within the Religious Studies Group and later the Department, and planning reports.

St. Jerome's University is located in Waterloo, Ontario, and is situated in the University of Waterloo. It was founded as St. Jerome's College in 1865 by the Congregation of the Resurrection. In 1959, it was granted university status and changed its name to the University of St. Jerome's College. It has been federated with the University of Waterloo since 1960. In 1998, the name was officially changed to St. Jerome's University.
