- ADMINISTRATIVE HISTORY;
The Academic Dean, who is also Vice-President of St. Jerome's University, is the chief academic officer of the University and has supervision over and direction of the academic work and general administration of the University and its faculty, academic officers, and students. The Vice-President and Academic Dean also has such other powers and duties as from time to time may be conferred upon or assigned to him/her by the Board of Governors or the President. Some of these duties are:
a) Development and continuing assessment of academic programs and departments;
b) Allocation of departmental budgets in general;
c) All formal academic recommendations to the President;
d) University of Waterloo relations on the decanal level;
e) Overseeing the advising of non-major students;
f) Chairs the Academic Committee, the Supervisors'Committee, and the Research Committee.
The Vice-President and Academic Dean is appointed by the Board of Governors, through the President, for a term of five years and he or she may be reappointed for an additional term of up to five years.
The name of the office was changed in February, 2014 to Vice-President Academic and Dean.
SCOPE AND CONTENTS:
This subgroup comprises the general administrative records relating to the academic operation of St. Jerome's University which emanate from the Office of the Academic Dean. Records include official documents and forms, correspondence, notes, memorandum, agendas and minutes of meetings, reports, and various other materials.

St. Jerome's University is located in Waterloo, Ontario, and is situated in the University of Waterloo. It was founded as St. Jerome's College in 1865 by the Congregation of the Resurrection. In 1959, it was granted university status and changed its name to the University of St. Jerome's College. It has been federated with the University of Waterloo since 1960. In 1998, the name was officially changed to St. Jerome's University.
