ADMINISTRATIVE HISTORY This book was co-authored by Michael W. Higgins and Douglas R. Letson. It was published in 1990 by Macmillan of Canada, Toronto. The biography includes Carter's rise from working class Montreal, through his work in Quebec's Catholic education system, his appointment as Bishop of London, Ontario, his work for the Second Vatican Council. and ultimately to his elevation to Cardinal. SCOPE AND CONTENTS This sub-series is comprised of the records relating to the research for and publication of the book,"My Father's Business: A Biography of G. Emmett Cardinal Carter". The records include correspondence, working papers, reprint permissions, financial records, grant applications, publishing agreement, typed drafts of the book's manuscript, publicity and advertising material, computer disks of an interview Michael Higgins gave on cable television, transcripts of taped interviews of resource persons, newspaper, magazine, and journal articles, copies of Cardinal Carter's personal records and papers, and other general research material. The records are arranged by subject.
