- BIOGRAPHY
Michael W. Higgins began his career as the author of various newspaper columns in 1986 by writing an Opinion column on religious issues for the"Toronto Star". The Opinion column appeared until 2006. Later he wrote a column on media trends for the"Kitchener-Waterloo Record"(2000-2006), a column on life and religion for"The Catholic Register"called"Gallimaufry"(2003-2009), and"Mysteries and Mystics", a weekly column published in the New Brunswick Telegraph-Journal (2009-), a weekly column"Letter From America"in The Irish Catholic (2012-), and a weekly column in The Globe and Mail (2012-). He is also the author of many, many other articles on diverse issues published in Canadian newspapers.
SCOPE AND CONTENTS
This series of records of published newspaper articles and columns authored by Michael W. Higgins includes copies of the"Opinion"column on religion written for the Toronto Star, copies of the column"Media Trends"written for the Kitchener-Waterloo Record, copies of the monthly column on life and religion written for the Catholic Register called"Gallimaufry", copies of the weekly column of reviews on mystery/thriller books and spirituality/theological books,"Mysteries and Mystics", published in the New Brunswick Telegraph-Journal, a weekly column,"Letter From America", in The Irish Catholic plus a weekly column in The Globe and Mail, and copies of various other newspaper articles authored by Michael Higgins, or written about Michael Higgins, or in which Michael Higgins has been quoted. Also included is an internet blog,"Papal Musings", written for CTV News (February-March, 2013) regarding the resignation of Pope Benedict, the interregnum, and the ensuing conclave.

St. Jerome's University is located in Waterloo, Ontario, and is situated in the University of Waterloo. It was founded as St. Jerome's College in 1865 by the Congregation of the Resurrection. In 1959, it was granted university status and changed its name to the University of St. Jerome's College. It has been federated with the University of Waterloo since 1960. In 1998, the name was officially changed to St. Jerome's University.
