- ADMINISTRATIVE HISTORY
The Institute for Studies in Learning Disabilities began in the summer of 1977 and was called The Institute in Early Identification of Learning Disabilities. The courses offered were designed to provide participants with a sound understanding of the basic theories on the early detection of learning disabilities and to provide a scientific and personally oriented method in dealing with this important education issue. In 1979 the name was changed to the Institute for Studies in Learning Disabilities with a focus on providing a broad base of information in the area of learning dysfunctions through in-depth lectures on various current topics. The Institute was administered by The University of St. Jerome's College. Lectures were given by invited scholars with specific expertise. The Institute was discontinued after the 1995/1996 academic year.
