GENIUS BORN OF ANGUISH: THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF HENRI NOUWEN was co-authored by Michael W. Higgins and Kevin Burns. The book was published in 2012 by Novalis Publishing Inc., Toronto, Ontario. It is an illustrated biography of Henri Nouwen's life story and his legacy with insights into both offered by numerous friends, close companions, and by his brother, Laurent. The book is also a companion volume to the CBC Radio series, IDEAS (airing in September, 2012) to mark the 15th anniversary of Nouwen's untimely death at the age of 64.


SCOPE AND CONTENTS

This sub-series of records for the book,"Genius Born of Anguish: The Life and Legacy of Henri Nouwen", includes a mock-up copy of the book, correspondence, transcripts of taped interviews, publicity material, a magazine article, a booklet of an address Michael Higgins gave on Thomas Merton and Henri Nouwen. There is also one copy of the published book and 9 compact discs of twelve lectures on Henri Nouwen: A Spirituality for the Wounded.

St. Jerome's University is located in Waterloo, Ontario, and is situated in the University of Waterloo. It was founded as St. Jerome's College in 1865 by the Congregation of the Resurrection. In 1959, it was granted university status and changed its name to the University of St. Jerome's College. It has been federated with the University of Waterloo since 1960. In 1998, the name was officially changed to St. Jerome's University.
