- ADMINISTRATIVE HISTORY
The St. Jerome's University Senate Council was established in June, 2012 to provide for collegial self-governance on academic matters. The Senate Council will consider and make recommendations to the Board of Governors with respect to academic matters within the University and will serve as a forum for discussion on the translation of the Mission of the university into an educational vision and framework.
Membership on the Senate Council include ex- officio members: all faculty holding academic rank; the President and Vice-Chancellor; the Vice-President and Academic Dean; the Associate Dean; the Associate Vice-President (non-voting); the Registrar (non-voting); the Librarian; and the President of the St. Jerome's University Students' Union. Membership will also include elected members: one student elected from and by the registered students of St. Jerome's University for a one-year term, renewable once.
Meetings of the Senate Council should be held five times during each academic year: two in the Fall term; two in the Winter term; and one in the Spring term.
Standing Committees of the Senate Council as of 2021-2022 are the Governance Committee, the Academic Committee, the Research and Scholarship Committee, Library Advisory Committee, Experiential Learning Advisory Committee and the Renewal, Tenure and Promotions Committee.

St. Jerome's University is located in Waterloo, Ontario, and is situated in the University of Waterloo. It was founded as St. Jerome's College in 1865 by the Congregation of the Resurrection. In 1959, it was granted university status and changed its name to the University of St. Jerome's College. It has been federated with the University of Waterloo since 1960. In 1998, the name was officially changed to St. Jerome's University.
