- Item is a newsletter published by St. Jerome's University for its graduates, faculty, staff and friends. This issue includes articles on the Spring Convocation, Awards Night, News Briefs, an interview with Claude Ryan, former Quebec Liberal leader, an article on History Professor Peter Smith becoming a full-time journalist, short pieces on some of the graduating class of 1963, an alumni profile on Mary Frances Pappert and under Writeback, letters in response to the article by Kenneth Westhues in the March issue and to the profile and review of the novel "First Blood" also in the March issue of Update!. There is a small announcement about upcoming alumni chapter gatherings and a photograph of Bruce Cockburn who gave a lecture at St. Jerome's on Central America.

St. Jerome's University is located in Waterloo, Ontario, and is situated in the University of Waterloo. It was founded as St. Jerome's College in 1865 by the Congregation of the Resurrection. In 1959, it was granted university status and changed its name to the University of St. Jerome's College. It has been federated with the University of Waterloo since 1960. In 1998, the name was officially changed to St. Jerome's University.
