Alumni Executive elections: it's up to you! March, 1984 University of St. Jerome's College Waterloo, Ontario Canada N2L 3G3 Vol. 3, No. 4 This issue of Update! marks yet another historic first for the University of St. Jerome's College. We are delighted to present to you an impressive slate of candidates for positions on the first alumni executive committee in the College's modern era. A formal alumni association is well on its way to becoming a reality! The call for nominations for positions on an executive committee went out in December and we are now able to present a group of candidates who have expressed their interest in working to realize this goal. They are standing for election in an effort to lay the foundation for a strong, vibrant and responsive alumni association. Now, more than ever, we need your help. Forming an alumni association which serves not only the graduates of St. Jerome's College, but ultimately its students as well, requires imagination and hard work. How can you help? We're glad you asked. First and foremost, carefully read the biographical sketches of all candidates and make your choices on the enclosed postage-paid election ballot. Send it to the College as soon as possible. Elections close Friday, May 25 at 3:00 p.m. The June issue of Update! will present the first alumni executive committee of the College's modern era. In the months to come, the executive will meet to set an agenda of goals and projects to be pursued by the alumni association. Above all, take part. Use the enclosed ballot to share your views on what an alumni association should be. Your ideas will serve as a basis for discussion and as the seeds for future alumni projects. The potential for an alumni association is limited only by the imagination of its membership. That leaves a wealth of exciting possibilities! So please vote and consider the formation of a strong alumni association your invitation to renew your involvement in the life of St. Jerome's College. Your alma mater needs you -- we can't do it alone. Burning the midnight oil Our photographer, Renate Wickens, has captured a dramatic view of the College as the end of term approaches. Much of the snow is now gone, thanks to a spring thaw and the only heat being felt these days is by students trying to meet those end of term deadlines!
