Alumni News The reunion dinner was a night of laughter and friendship as Fr. Jim Wahl shares a chuckle with Mary-Jac Tell (BA 79) and Helen Lavigne. Alumni from as far back as 1958 joined in the festivities. David (BA '80) and Janet Demaiter (nee O'Connor, BA '83) travelled from Thamesford to join in the reunion spirit and are shown sharing a moment with Dean Peter Naus. Dome blame me A retractable dome for St. Jerome's? Apparently so. At the recent reunion dinner held at the College, alumni director Rob Donelson reported that plans are now underway to build a dome over the new quadrangle. The UW Engineering faculty has agreed to provide skyhooks at no cost and various campus administrators will assist in keeping the dome afloat by providing the necessary hot air. Donelson's plan was met with widespread support particularly among those faculty members who have a penchant for holding classes outside. However, College President Fr. Norm Choate, was said to have looked skeptical. More details to follow. THANKS! The overwhelming success of the latest alumni reunion dinner is due in no small part to the team of phone volunteers who took the time to remind graduates of the big event. They are alumni Rick Booth, Ab Densmore, Paul Ecker, Ginny Freeman, Ken Lavigne, Mary Jo O'Brien, Francine O'Connor, Maureen Rich, Dave Schnarr and Patti Tusch. Special thanks to students and future alumni Anthea Britto, Doug Brooks, Andy Schnurr and Tina Squina for their great help! Relaxing after a superb dinner of seafood crepes, caesar salad and chicken cordon bleu are (1. to r.) Robert Donelson (BA '80), Prof. Peter Hinchcliffe, Prof. Stan Fogel, Ann Donelson, Registrar Kevin Donelson (BA '78) and Margo Baird (BA '83). Cheers! Jim Carter (BA '74), Brian Eby (BA 71) and Al McElhone (BA '70) all agreed that this reunion dinner was a great success and worthy of a toast. (It was great fun, too!) The trio were among the 100 alumni and friends in attendance. College to launch national journal Grail: An Ecumenical Forum is the name of a new multi-disciplinary journal being launched at St. Jerome's College. It intends to provide a contemporary and multi-faceted probe into topics of current concern and of religious importance. It will provide informed commentary on such issues for the non-specialist and is designed to fill the apparent gap between promulgation and proclamation of new directions in the Catholic Community. Watch future issues of Update! for subscription information and other details. The K-W Reunion Dinner was graced by the presence of Waterloo Mayor Marjorie Carroll and her husband Prof. Glenn Carroll shown enjoying a pre-dinner chat with Fr. Norm Choate. Looking fine! In his best bib and tucker is John McLelland and wife Stephanie (nee Langel, BA '80) getting spruced up before dinner. Update! /7
