- Item is a newsletter published by St. Jerome's University for its graduates, faculty, staff and friends. This is a special issue on St. Jerome's bidding farewell to Fr. Norm Choate, C.R. as he completes 10 years as President and includes articles on the various events in his honor, on his receiving an honorary Doctor of Laws degree at Convocation, on a new scholarship in his name, an interview with him, and on the testimonial dinner sponsored by the Graduates' Association. There are other articles in the issue on Reunion weekend events, News Briefs, Tom Ciancone being given the 1989 Distinguished Graduate Award, on Grail: An Ecumenical Journal winning a series of national awards for the second straight year, a profile on graduate Gerald Lynch with a book review on his volume about Stephen Leacock, an In Memoriam for student Todd Earl, and an article on graduates Marian and Frank O'Connor being named as President Couple for Serena Canada, a national organization which teaches Natural Family Planning.

St. Jerome's University is located in Waterloo, Ontario, and is situated in the University of Waterloo. It was founded as St. Jerome's College in 1865 by the Congregation of the Resurrection. In 1959, it was granted university status and changed its name to the University of St. Jerome's College. It has been federated with the University of Waterloo since 1960. In 1998, the name was officially changed to St. Jerome's University.
