Description
Item is a newsletter published by St. Jerome's University for its graduates, faculty, staff and friends. This issue includes an article on President Michael Higgins who was shortlisted as one of "Top Ten" best lecturers in Ontario and on his leaving St. Jerome's to become the President of St. Thomas University in Fredericton, New Brunswick, the President's Penultimate Message, articles on the St. Jerome's Feast for Catholic Education held September 23rd and the Chancellor John Sweeney Award being presented to the School Sisters of Notre Dame, on the reunion which launched the Laurence A. Cummings Lecture in Cultural History and attended by Prof. Cumming, former students and St. Aethelwold's Players, and on the reunion of female frosh from the 90's, on Eva Kmiecic, the 2005 Fr. Norm Choate Distinguished Graduate Award recipient with an excerpt from her 2005 Graduates' Association Lecture, on the St. Jerome's students who spent time in Kenya helping to build a school, on new faces at St. Jerome's: staff member Ashley Dietrich, and Philosophy professor Nick Zunic, SJU Gallergy: photographs of the Investiture Ceremony for the 2005 first-year class; of the memorial cairn outside St. Agatha; and of graduate student Rev. Gerard Bergie who was named Auxiliary Bishop in the Diocese of Hamilton; as well as features SJU News, Grad Notes and Continuing Connections.

St. Jerome's University is located in Waterloo, Ontario, and is situated in the University of Waterloo. It was founded as St. Jerome's College in 1865 by the Congregation of the Resurrection. In 1959, it was granted university status and changed its name to the University of St. Jerome's College. It has been federated with the University of Waterloo since 1960. In 1998, the name was officially changed to St. Jerome's University.
