David B. Perrin, President & Vice-Chancellor Exciting Times at St. Jerome's! Biannual Overseas Student Trip Creates Memories for a Lifetime Early Saturday morning on February 14th, I made the trek to St. Jerome's University to join 27 of our students to launch an adventure of a lifetime. For months, we had all been anticipating the Reading Week trip to Italy and Greece, and now the day of our departure had arrived. In Sweeney Hall, the excitement was palpable as students milled about. All were in various stages of last-minute preparations: a name tag, another bottle of water, and, most important, a clutch to the pocket to ensure that one's passport was close at hand. What a trip it was! But it wasn't the scenery or the historic sites I treasure, it was the opportunity to spend time with our students. For a full eight days we ate together, walked together, played cards, and chatted up a storm; even in the quieter moments, we found time to bond. Together we endured the tumult of the Aegean Sea, the snow of the mountains in Greece, and the endless stairs in Athens. It was a real pleasure for me to get to know, in a special way, this group of wonderful students. We are very fortunate at St. Jerome's to have such a fantastic student body. And I can't commend our excellent Faculty and Staff enough for their hard work and untiring commitment to our students. As we journey with them -- not only through the exotic venues of Italy and Greece, but as students grow steadily in wisdom and stature -- we are truly blessed. The years pass quickly. In June, another graduating class will walk across the stage, with their robes on and their hoods in hand. We see this moment as the end of a journey, but of course, it is really just the beginning of another one. I offer a heartfelt thank you to Sue and Darren for organizing the trip, and to Dave for caring enough about the students to come along. His presence cemented the bond he has with students at St. Jerome's. - Andrew Lessard Student Union President
