Following a controversial "unâ€" veiling" meeting, at which the press and public was barred, Mimico, New Toronto, Long Branch and Etobicoke officials were askâ€" ed to comment on the mammoth plan. While agreeing with the scheme in principal, Mimico flayed the Metro planners for proposing that most of the parkland be developed off New Toronto and Long Branch. Through lack of planning, Mimico is woefully short of parkland, havâ€" ing the least amount of green space per capita in Metro. In its brief to the Metro Technical Comâ€" mittee, which drafted the waterâ€" front plan, Mimico also turned thumbs down on the proposal to erect more apartments along its apartment clustered lakefront. The town politicians are also unâ€" happy that the plan leaves Mimico at the tail end of the proposal.
