Commencing this Monday, May 15, classes from Metro and region elementary and secondary schools will spend half a day each at Black Creek Pioneer Village in a newlyâ€" completed Craft House which was originally a midâ€"19th century log dwelling. There will be two classes per day â€" one in the morning and one in the afternoon. ' There, the students, under the guidance of speciallyâ€"trained Authâ€" ority staff, will learn through practical application, the use of preâ€"Confederation household equipâ€" ment and farm tools. They will aiso obtain at firstâ€"hand an idea of how the early settler, his wife and family, lived, worked and enâ€" tertained themselves. The craft program is open to all schools and to date some 70 classes have arranged for the program. Crafts include spinning and cardâ€" ing of wool, weaving, butter churnâ€" ing, candle dipping, wool dyeing, grain processing, brick making and woodâ€"working. Additional activities will be introduced as the program develops.
