A spastic, due to brain damage at birth, with severe speech, hearing and learning | disabilities, Jeffery‘s chances of living a normal life seemed almost nil. Certainly this was the opinion of the doctors in Toronto and Jeffâ€" ery‘s mother was advised to send her son to an institution. But Mr. and Mrs. Casseâ€" meyer were not prepared to accept this decision without first exploring all available sources of help. They had heard about the Institute for the Achievement of Human Potenâ€" tial in Philadelphia and decided to take Jeffery there. The brain damage was assessed and a program of patterning assignâ€" ed. That was a year and a half ago. Last week Jeffery‘s parents were told that he is now ready and able to attend school. There is still a hearing problem and so the school will be equipped to handle children with hearâ€" ing disabilities but all indicaâ€" tions point to a close to norâ€" mal life for this once considered hopeless 12 year old. The party was in honour of Jeffery Cassemeyer, and all those who helped Jeffery gradâ€" This time of year graduation parties are not uncommon but last Tuesday night, May 28, at the home of Mrs. J.
