About 300 spectators also attended. The weather was perfect and creativity was the word of the day at the "paintâ€"in‘"‘ last Saturday sponsored by Etobicoke industry and the borough Recreation Department. The painting was done on "green board" covered:with latex. The board was supplied by borough industries. Painters worked in a variety of medias such as lipstick, house paint, India ink, oil paint, egg, and even margarine. In some paintings, things like pop cans were used and some young people made collages with paper. One young man blew paint on the board using straw. Another particiâ€" pant did embroidery painting in which tubes of paint with ball point tips on them are used to color a pattern. : The finished paintings were judged by Terry Redmond, sales promotion manager of the Polaroid Corp., and Tom Riley, director of the Etobicoke Recâ€" reation Department. â€" The Leaders in Training Corps, young people trained by the recreation department to work in day camps and playground situations, served refreshâ€" ments and also sang folksongs for those who attended. Kathy Boake, 2 Fallowfield Rd., was awarded a transister record player for first prize. Gift certificates were given to second and third place winners Lynn Gallagher, 24 Bradbury Cres., and Lucy Lorenc, 180 Elmhurst Drive. The "paintâ€"in‘", which lasted from 1 to 5 p.m., was "quite successful," Sharon Hillier, recreation assistant, said. "We may have it again,‘" she added For those that did not attend the "paintâ€"in‘"‘, many of the paintings will be displayed at the Etobicoke Municipal Centre.
