if Jy,,,,o,iptlKi,rt,d,ergartens are great We won't be satisfied until these facilities are available in every primary school in the borough. Many youngsters at four years of age are ready and eager to take part in this type. of learning. This active and inquisitive age is the time to start directing our children up the educational ladder. Children taking part in a junior Kindergarten program will be better prepared to face challenges of the future and opportunities in learning. , The program is based on a philosophy of individual student difference and development characteristics. Youngsters are given considerable freedom to move about the, classroom from one' activity to another, so that each child can give vent to individual curiosity and expression, explore thoughts and ideas and attempt to solve problems by themselves or with the help of the teacher. With the number of years needed to complete a well rounded education ever increasing, the idea of commencing to teach our youngsters what they can absorb at the three and four year level makes a great deal of some. Something that parent-teacher groups have been advocating for years has finally happened in York schools and is proving a great success. This is the new junior Kindergarten program. for 1fpur-yetolfs that" is available at Memorial and D.B. Hood public schools. In the new year, facilities for ,junior kindergarten will be provided at Briar Hill, F.H. Miller and Harwood junior schools. Talking is permitted because this not only helps all the students develop oral communications but is particularly useful to those children whose parents do not speak English.
