At a recent meeting of lst Emery cubs Andrew Fife, Stewart Gourlay and Favio Zenette were invested by leader Les Brown, with the cubs' parents present for the ceremony. This past Sunday, Les took nine sixers and seconders to Woodland Trails for an Ookpik outing. Seven scouts went along to prepare a hot noon meal for the cubs and leaders which was most welcome as the day was cold. Don Dawson, Jim Potter, Gord Kerr and Ed Black went along to help and enjoyed the toboggan rides. Mrs. Charlotte Ferguson, Coral Gables, opened her home last Tuesday evening for a miscellaneous shower for Miss Judy 'Love, who is being married to Jim Perrin on February 14. Twenty-five neighbours gathered for this happy event. Miss Jackie Perrin assisted the bride to be in opening the many beautiful and useful gifts. The Misses Ardeth and Joan Ferguson and Mrs. Mary 'Sharpe assisted the hostess with the refreshments which featured a shower cake. Jim and Judy will live in Weston after their wedding. The many students at Emery who are involved in the play, Bye Bye Birdie have been practising most every night as well as Sunday afternoons. All this practising has shown in past years as the plays they have put on have been very well done. Maureen Duncan, Barbara Pritchard, Ron Rand and Chuck Mitchell have leading parts. Miss Manetta. and Mrs. McCarrol are directing the play and Adele Boy is the producer. The _ music is being played by members of the school orchestra and band under the direction of Mr. Knecktel.
