St. Mikes edge Dodgers The Weston Dodgers@ were edged twice last weekend in O.M.A. Jr. B quarter final playoffs by the St. Michaels Buzzers. The two games were similar York‘s junior gymnastic team competed in a meet on Saturday March ist. Grade nines placed third overâ€"all. with grade tens placing first with Rick# Jeysman first overâ€"all. On March 14th the T.D.1.Â¥.A. gymnastic â€" championships will be held at York Memo. in that both were not decided until the : final period and each by a one goal margin. Friday night at Weston Arena the teams came out of the opening stanza deadlocked at 2 goals a piece. St. Mikes took an early lead buq Weston‘s Ron Wallace pulled the Dodgers even at the 8:20 mark and Murray Haggatt put them ahead at the 15:59 mark. The Buzzers tied it up with a minute and a half to go in the period when they scored a power play goal. The score stayed tied until the 4:07 mark of the third period when St. Mikes again capitalized on a Dodger penalty and scored another power play goal. The Dodgers tried in vain for the equalizer but were denied. In their anxiety to get an extra man on the ice in the dying seconds theyw were penalized for too many men and that just about killed their chances for a tie. In Sundays matinee tilt at St. Michaels Arena the Dodgers fell behind 4â€"0 in the first period before Dave Clancy put Weston on the scoresheet. Two tallies by the Dodgers in seconds apart in the final minute of the middle frame put them within one goal of the Irish for the start of the thirg? period. Ron Wallace and Hal Murphy were the Dodger marksmen. Murray Haggatt tied it up for Weston early in gle final period.â€" The â€" Iris came right back and took a two goal lead before Steve McDonald replied for Weston. The final score ending up 6â€"5 in favour of St. Mikes. In this game the Dodgers again were caught with too many players on the ice and it resulted in a costly penalty in the final minute. The two teams clash again this Friday at, Weston Arena with faceoff time 8.30 p.m. The formal is just a¢ month away. The formal "A . Night to Remember‘ will be held on April 11th TEHB GOOD & THB BAD BY SUSAMN LAMANTIA
