Ontario Health teams check York TB increase The appointment of Harryâ€" S. Crowe, 46, as Deanâ€"â€"of the Joseph E. Atkinson College, effective July© 1st,. has. been announced by York University President, Murray G. Ross. Fortyâ€"three new cases of tuberculosis were reported in the borough of York in the last 12 months, states Professor Crowe succeeds D. McCormack Smyth who has been Dean of the College since 1964. Dean Smyth has announced his intention to take a sabbatical and then return to teaching when his Deanship expires on June 30th. College dean appointed Atkinson College was established by York University in 1962 in response to a growing need for <~a partâ€"time degree programme â€" particularly tailored for adult students. An integral part of the Â¥ ork U niversity Community, Atkinson College has its own faculty and offers courses of study as demanding and disciplined as the fullâ€"time degree programme of the University. As a result of a generous grant from Joseph E. Atkinson _â€"Charitable Foundation, the college enjoys its own building on thkee York Campus, complete with â€" faculty offices, seminar rooms, lecture halls, common rooms and ‘cafeteria. Enrolment in the college has risen from 287 in 1962 to 6,500 during the past academic year . . . and enrolment projections for 1980 exceed 25,000 students.
