Riggs 1230 Jane Street GARAGES Optometrist MUSIC It would appear that our Board of Education and the Township Council cannot come to terms in this regard The Board wants to build the school in the High Point area, and is running into difficulties with the Council, Municipal Board and the Residents of the area. A few years ago, when the expenâ€" sive homes were built, it was zoned so that no structure other than _ single dwelling _ homes could be built, this including schools, churches, synagogues, etc. This \fz\nning will run out in 1969, but that will be too late for school children now in this new subâ€"division. Due to the addition to the Humber Memorial Hospital, the Pelmo Area has only a very small park area, but this is to be rectified with the Township acquiring land to the north of Pelmo School for this purpose. EDWARDS GARDENS We have been receiving &hroâ€" ugh the daily newspapers inâ€" formation regarding the acquirâ€" ing of five acres of woodland from Edwards Gardens for‘ the purpose of building a five room school for the new subdivision just North of Sunnybrook Hosâ€" pital. I attended a meeting with a number of Metro area M.P.‘s in the Minister of Transport‘s Ofâ€" fice a few weeks ago in connecâ€" tion with more adequate Air Terminal Transportation to Malâ€" ton Airport for those who do not live in the centre of the city of Toronto. This is another case where those who live in the outâ€" er fringes have had to travel for miles in order to make use of adequate transportation to a Federal service. We made a case for the need of a direct line In the future, que to the exâ€" tention of highway 400, many streets in our area are to be blocked off with no access to Jane Street. Pelmo Crescent and Woodward Avenue will have acâ€" cess only from Upwood, and Boylen from Church Street. Seaâ€" brook Avenue at Maple Leaf will also be closed. A cloverleaf is to be constructed, thus taking away the land at the foot of Rustic Road, and some of the houses, along with houses on Lawnside Drive adjacent to Jane Street. It will also be necâ€" essary for Scale‘s Garage to reâ€" locate farther north on Jane St. The council‘s alternative to this plan. is ta build this small "Little Red School House" of five rooms on the above menâ€" tioned property, which is at preâ€" sent a part of Edward‘s Garâ€" dens. * Moe Moreau, M.P. for Yorkâ€" Scarborough and I flew dows from Ottawa on the 7:15> a.m. flight to be present at the cereâ€" mony and I considered it a worthwhile effort because of the importance to North York of this Federal service now in our midst. Too often our very large population has been inconvenâ€" ienced by having to go all the way down town in connection with business having to do with Federal offices and Agencies. The recognition of the need of regional offices to serve areas like North York is pleasing to me, and the considerable time and effort that a number of us have expended for over a year in getting an N.E.S. office on Youge Street is now rewarded. I am hopeful that this principle of the extension of Federal serâ€" vices out to the perimeters of the city of Toronto will be acâ€" cepted as other needs arise. of the Natiqnal Empioyment Service at 4985 Youge Street last Monday morning. > by James I had the privilege of repreâ€" senting the Federal Minister of Labour at the official opening it‘s Your M.P. We cannot neglect this opâ€" portunity. It is through making sacrifices that we reach the true conception of living. Doing for others brings realization and apâ€" preciation for our church. Beâ€" come a regular attendant and supporter of your church. The church office is closed on account of holidays but in case of anyone wanting to reach the clergy, call the assistant Rector, the Rev. Canon Ralph Adye at his home if you do not get him at the church phone. The Rector and his family are enjoying â€" cottageâ€"life for the month. I met Russ Jackson, Star Canâ€" adian Quarterback of the Ottawa Roughriders, a few days ago. He was with Lioyd Francis the Liberal M.P. for Carleton in whose riding Mr. Jackson lives. I suppose the only reason I am mentioning this is because of my continued interest in sports and sportsmanship and physical fitness. I have discovered that most of us who participated in sports at one time still have a spot of hero worship left in us. From my chat with Russ Jackâ€" son I would say that he repreâ€" sents all that is best in sports; a high minded and clean living Canadian who is setting an example of achievement and sportsmanship that all young should try to follow. tently hammering at these proâ€" blems you finally get results, if you have a good cause. Last Thursday night at 11:4% the House finally completed seâ€" cond reading to Bill Câ€"110 which provided for Student Loans. Six long days of debate with conâ€" stant repetition of argument on the part of a handful of opponâ€" ents finally came to an end near midnight as we took our last vote in committee. On Friday the Bill received third reading after a last ditch effort to stall it further. Your M.P.‘s earned their money last week, I can tell you. Last Sunday services were well attended, especially the 10 a.m. which had nearly a full church. The early service had 25 present which denotes the spiritual life of the congregaâ€" tion.
