Page 12â€"The Weston York Timesâ€"Thursday, August 5, 1971 The _ Ponderosa _ has graduated to a truly sucâ€" cessful _ and pleasing operation. ++4+ A nice little duo known as Brady and Jones is currently appearing at the Newport Hotel in Port Credit. This versatile duo plays folk, country, pop and rock and has things really For those that do not wish to partake of a big dinner, the Ponderosa also operates a smaller restaurant and coffee shop in the centre of the mall. Here light lunches and sandwiches are served daily. Regardless of your taste in dining, whether it be Barâ€"Bâ€" Q Ribs, Lobster or Steaks, the Ponderosa Steak House will be sure to serve you a mouth watering dinner. Mr. Kanichis searched other dining spots for staff and came up with some highly skilled and trained help. He is a very personable and amiable person himself, and hovers nearby at all times making sure that each and every patron is cared for. Many years of experience in one of Toronto‘s largest and best hotels has taught owner Nick Kanichis that you must supply quality in order to please the patrons. This shows in the taste of his dinners. The steaks are charâ€" broiled in a spotless stainless steel kitchen, and are sure to please even the fussiest gourmet diner. The steak house is actually separated _ into _ three separate intimate and cosy areas. The two front dining areas accommodate about 25 persons each, while the back area seats between 45 and 50. This back section is comâ€" pletely private and is ideal for weddings, parties or other banquet needs. The Ponderosa Steak House is located in the Etobicourt Mall on the northâ€" west corner of the West Mall and Burnhamthorpe Road. Entrance to the Ponderosa is from the large parking area at the rear of the building. It is located directly behind the Royal Bank which faces Burnhamthorpe. This pleasant little steak house was opened last November and is rated right up at the top with the best of them already. The decor has a Western trend as well as a bit of old English. Nice decor, excellent service and fine cuisine properly prepared, are the combination that will make any dining room a success, and that is the formula followed by the Ponderosa. The Ponderosa Steak House and Tavern blended together three very imâ€" portant ingredients and came up with a most sucâ€" cessful operation within a year. Bernie is one of the great performers in the area. He plays piano, sings and has a never ending routine of comedy and patter. Bernie has changed his image a little as can be seen in the above picture, but he is still Bernie Black the great entertainer. He is at the Avion daily from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and again from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. ++4+ Ina and Al Harris, that popular husband and wife team, move into the Conâ€" stellation Hotel‘s Woodbine Inn this coming Monday evening. They will be appearing nightly for both diners and dancers and along with happyâ€"goâ€"lucky Cousin Don himself, they should make quite an evening of enâ€" tertainment. A new group called Tammy and Company will be opening this coming Monday and from all reports, they put on quite a show. The group is comprised of three gals and two guys, and offer most all types of music that the crowd might wish to hear. I tried their pizza the other night and must say that it was very good and worthy of recommending to others. +++ Cousin Don says things will be hopping out at his tavern North Queen Street next week. They make an excellent pizza with fresh dough and ingredients and as well as pickâ€"up service they offer free home delivery. They also specialize in spaghetti, lasagna and raviolis. Vesuvio‘s have a very commendable record behind them in pizza making, and this new store is certainly no exception. They are located in the small plaza on the north side of Dundas, just east of Islington Avenue. swinging in the Newport‘s Caravel Lounge. +++ A welcome addition to the central part of Etobicoke has got to be Vesuvio‘s Pizzeria at 4740 Dundas Street west. Lynne Shaw is the current vocalist featured with the Ken Stanley Trio in the Heritage Inn‘s La Terraza Lounge. Lynne is originally from Ireland and has a magnificent voice and manner of presentation. She has appeared in many top clubs throughout the world and has her own records on the market. Lynne and the trio appear nightly from 8: 30 to 12:30 for diners and dancers at the Heritage. If you have wondered what it would be like to sleep on one of these new water beds, now is your chance, Check into the Ascot Inn on Rexdale Boulevard some evening and find out for yourself just what it is really like. +++ The Ascot Inn is not about to let some of the new hotels sneek on by them with new innovations. They have come up with a new innovation of their own. They are the first hotel in these parts to install water beds in some of their rooms. Ina is a fine vocalist and Al is one of the better guitarists in Canada, along with their fine drummer they make an excellent trio.
