Dr. Malcho explained the way each type of drug is taken, the effect it has on the body and the harm which can be eaused by the way these drugs are taken. Surprisingly, it is not always the drug itself which is harmful, but the method by which it is administered. When a drug user is inâ€" jecting, the syringe and the teaspoon, which holds the Dr. Malcho has been working with teenagers for over two years now in a special clinic situated in two school portables behind Yorkâ€"Finch _ General Hospital. The kids who come for treatment do so because they are able to comâ€" municate with Dr. Malcho. Through he and his colleagues, they are helped to better understand some of the problems they face. We parents hear and read many stories about the ‘drug scene‘ and pass it off as hippie type stuff. This is not true. Drugs are used by all types and levels of teenagers and may be obtained through any of our high schools. Both youngsters and adults need a _ good nutritional sendâ€"off in the morning. Nutritionists agree that they will perform better, both mentally and physsically, when they start their day with a nourishing breakfast than if they had little or no breakfast at all. Today is the last day of September and, as fall apâ€" proaches, night school programs are in full swing and the recreational acâ€" tivities for adults begin. For the first time, the parks and recreation department is running a ladies afternoon physical fitness program. This will be run along the same format as the Thurâ€" sday evening class with the exception of swimming. Classes begin Wednesday, October 20 at 1:30 to 3 p.m. and the fee is 75 cents each week or $12.00 for the season. Personally, I feel each parent, must look inside his own conscience and wonder if he is giving his child enough time, love and unâ€" derstanding so they will not feel the need to escape from our society into the drug scene. Dr. Malcho is only one of the many people trying to help these kids and unâ€" derstand them and we should be thankful there are people around who genuinely do care.
