Every year the members select their Man of the Year â€" a man who has made an extra effort in the organization of various events the Club holds to make funds for its two charities. These events consists of a yearly Golf Tournament, several danâ€" ces, and every year the Club hold a bangâ€"up Christmas party for the Children of Thistletown Regional Centre and also a summer picnic. The winner of the Man of The Year Award also receives a replica plaque with his name engraved upon it and the original trophy resides in The Banyan Terrace cocktail lounge at The Constellation Hotel. Mr. MacDonald has . been legal counsel for the Society since it received its charter in 1969 â€" and was instrumental in the forming of the club together with Wilf Snowden, who was the first Man of the Year. barrister and his son carries on in his father‘s tradition.
