Healthy, robust teenage eating patterns were evident at Humber _ Memorial Hospital Monday evening when the hospital enâ€" tertained the Diabetic Youth group. Twentyâ€"five members of this newlyâ€"formed Metro organization made short work of the food which was more reminiscent of hamâ€" burger stand offerings rather than institutional kitchen cuisine. Under the direction of Mr. Semple and Irene Jeffers, supervisor, the Diabetic Youth group, a branch of the Canadian Diabetic Association, puts the accent on the social aspect of being a diabetic. Hamburgersâ€"routine foods for diabetic teenagers Diabetic Youth, lead by president Bob Firth and Mr. Semple plan pool parties, camping weekends and car rallies as part of their social program. Counseling by the medical and nursing staff will also be provided at the monthly meetings to be held in Humber Memorial‘s conference room. The gates of the Albion Hills Conservation Field Centre farm has now been opened to students on a dayâ€" use basis. The students will have access to the farm, its animals and the examples it provides â€" of _ renewable resources including the land producing _ crops _ and livestock, necessary for man‘s continuing _ food supply. The farm is operated in the Albion Hills Conservation Area, one of 14 conservation areas operated in the Metro region by the Metropolitan Toronto and Region Conâ€" servation Authority.
